A Load Of Balls

I took this photograph upon the last day of May 2009, after almost ten years of using a digital camera I have finally managed to photograph a group/flock/pride/flange of 'orbs', other that is than the circular smudges that manifest themselves upon rainy days.

The image was taken at the entrance to the south-eastern burial chamber of the Belas Knap longbarrow in Gloucestershire, a site of neolithic reverence and no doubt a focus of mysterious energies and vibrations.

Perhaps these orbs are the restless souls of the dead who's remains were taken from here during archaeological excavations, they may be the demonic/angelic guardians of this holy place; then again they could just be specks of dust kicked about in the dry dirt by my boots or the pollen that caused the soreness in my eyes and nose to run!

As a Fortean I'll enjoy it for what it is, enigmatic - and if pressed, as an expression, I'll blame them on the faeries!
