CB Fry captained the Nondescripts for the first time but unfortunately lost the toss. Hackwood decided that his team would bat first. Wooster, playing for the Melbury XI rather than the Nondescripts, scored a creditable half century whilst Darwin kept the Melbury XI innings in check by taking six wickets. The Melbury XI score of 173 didn't look enough on paper and the Melbury XI bowling team were unable to stop the Nondescripts scoring steadily with Waugh hitting the winning runs with a six off the bowling of Niblett.
