The near cone shape of Carn Briw can easily be seen from Carningli Camp, we descended from the summit of the mountain through a passage entrance of the hill fort; Carn Briw momentarily disappearing below the horizon on the short approach walk. It has been speculated that it was probably originally a conical mound built during the Bronze Age as a buriel cairn. Today it is quite degraded with small sections, removed, rebuilt and added too by passing visitors.
