Fortifications are military constructions and buildings designed for in warfare and military bases. Humans have constructed defensive works for many thousands of years, in a variety of increasingly complex designs.

Feats of Engineering

 

Buildings and constructs that stretch human creativity, science and technology to their limit. Structures, machines, devices, systems, and processes that safely realize a desired objective or inventions.

Fields of Conflict

 

The sites of battles, conflicts and massacres. Historical locations with a bloody tale to tell of mans inhumanity.

Follies

 

A building constructed strictly as a decoration, having none of the usual purposes of housing or sheltering associated with a conventional structure. In the 18th century garden follies often represented  rustic villages, mills and cottages, to symbolize rural virtues.

Holy Wells & Springs

 

A'Holy Well' is a term commonly employed to refer to any water source of small size including pools, natural springs and seeps, which has some significance in the folklore of the area where it is located, whether in the form of a particular name or an associated legend.

Holy and sacred places dedicated to a specific diety, ancestor, martyr, saint or similar figure of awe and respect at which they are venerated and worshiped. They may take the form of churches, temples or buriel grounds and often contain idols, relics or votive offerings.
